The GWO Crane and Hoist Basic User (CHBU) is a specialized safety training program developed by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) to equip individuals working in the wind energy industry with the essential skills and knowledge needed to perform basic lifting operations using cranes and hoists in wind turbine environments.This course ensures that personnel involved in lifting activities, both onshore and offshore, are well-versed in safe lifting procedures and prepared to support operations safely and effectively.

Throughout the course, participants will actively participate in hands-on exercises reinforcing the theoretical concepts. The GWO CHBU course content includes:

Crane and Hoist Safety: Introduction to lifting operations, including potential hazards and safe working practices when using cranes and hoists in the wind energy industry.Regulations and Documentation: Understanding relevant legislation, standards, and manufacturer manuals related to lifting operations.Lifting Equipment and Accessories: Overview of cranes, hoists, and common lifting accessories such as slings, shackles, and hooks used in WTGs.Pre-use Inspection: Inspection procedures to ensure lifting equipment is safe and ready for operation before use.Basic Lifting Operations: Training on safe lifting techniques, load handling, and communication during lifting activities. The training includes theory first, followed by practice.Post-operation Procedures: Safe completion of lifting tasks and proper securing of equipment after use.
