Wind Turbine Inspection Services

At VIVABLAST, we believe that the wind industry is at an exciting crossroads. The world is quickly moving toward a future where wind power will be an essential part of the energy mix.

To help you make the most of this transition, we offer full-scope inspection services for all types of wind farms and wind projects. Whether you need an initial condition assessment or ongoing monitoring, we have the knowledge, experience, and equipment to ensure your facilities are working at their best.

Our team uses the latest technologies to provide high-quality, cost-effective service at all times. This means that not only will our services meet your needs today—they will help ensure a low Levelized Cost Of Energy (LCOE) for years to come!

Lightning Protection System (LPS) Inspection

We deliver inspection service for the Lightning Protection System (LPS) to detect down conductor damages and repair oxidation of the receptor wires. Prevent your lightning turbine blades from being hit by lightning. Our sophisticated inspection tools offer you deep insight by measuring the LPS full-loop and by high voltage procedure to identify open circuits or resistance issues.

We measure all conductors and cables in order to determine their impedance, length, and overall condition. We will inspect all elements of the system, including:

  • Down Conductors;
  • Grounding Rods;
  • Earthing Electrodes;
  • Receptor Wires;
  • Lightning Arrester Disconnect Switches (LAD);

Wind Blade Internal Inspection

At VIVABLAST, we know that internal inspections are an essential part of any wind turbine maintenance. The fact is, most wind turbine blades are difficult or impossible for humans to reach, which means that standard inspection methods just aren’t good enough. But we’ve developed a solution: a dedicated crawler-bot for high-quality internal inspections.

Thanks to the crawler’s small size and ability to maneuver through tight spaces, we are now capable of performing internal inspections on the majority of blades on active wind turbines—where it was previously impossible via a manual approach. In addition, our crawler-bot is equipped with powerful lights and HD 360-degree view cameras able to capture the full internal area of the turbine blade.

Wind Blade External Inspection by Rope Access

Wind energy is one of the most promising forms of clean energy that is rapidly gaining popularity. It is also one of the fastest-growing segments in the power industry. With this growth, there are many questions about wind turbine maintenance and inspection as well as how to keep up with the increasing demand for wind-powered electricity.

At VIVABLAST, we understand that you need to perform visual inspections on your wind blades but do not want to take any risks to your employees’ safety. That’s why we have a team of experienced rope access technicians who are IRATA level 1-2-3, GWO, GWA certified to perform these tasks safely and accurately. With an accurate and thorough assessment report on the condition of turbine blades, our specialized technical team will then advise and support you on the best approach to any repairs needed. This is a friendly environmental and cost-efficient solution for a wide range of wind turbine maintenance activities, not only for wind blades.

Wind Turbine Blade Drone Inspection

VIVABLAST is the leading provider of professional wind turbine blade autonomous drone inspection services. Our advanced cloud-based platform allows us to scan and analyze the data much safer and faster without any human risk or error.

We enable you to collect robust, reliable, and repeatable data for highly professional blade asset management. It offers high-quality and overlapping images and helps you to create comprehensive visibility of the blade health – enabling you to prioritize maintenance and repairs and minimize downtime effectively.

Wind Tower Inspection

Wind turbine tower inspections are essential to any wind farm maintenance plan. A comprehensive review performed by rope access technicians or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will identify failures and potential safety hazards, allowing you to take action before a problem becomes unmanageable.

We offer a wide range of inspection services, including:

  • Welding defects;
  • Coatings issues;
  • Mechanical damage;

Gearbox and Bearing Inspection

At VIVABLAST, we believe that gearbox and bearing inspection is an essential part of things like end-of-warranty assessments and ongoing periodic condition assessments. We employ a high-end video borescope copes with performing our wind turbine gearbox inspections, which means that we can see inside your unit with startling clarity.

We’ve worked with a wide range of clients and have performed inspections on everything from small turbines to large utility-scale units. Our experienced wind turbine gearbox inspectors ensure the best quality inspection and reporting. We also reference our observations against any findings from lubricant analysis and other condition monitoring systems.

End–Of–Warranty (EOW) Inspection

When your wind turbine’s warranty period comes to an end, it is important to conduct an End-Of-Warranty (EOW) inspection to ensure that all critical components have been repaired or replaced in a timely manner.

VIVABLAST’s wind team can help you identify deficiencies and detect failures of critical components before the end of your warranty period and establish warranty claims on our findings. By planning an EOW inspection well in advance, you can maximize the understanding of your wind turbines and any safety, quality, or technical issues.

We inspect every component of your turbines to guarantee that they are in excellent operational condition and that they will continue to operate. We do perform activities in End- Of -Warranty period as follows:

  • Scada (Supervisory control and data acquisition) Alarm/ Availability Analyses

The platform’s flexibility also allows us to perform maintenance on any type of turbine without having to dismantle it completely!

Furthermore, we provide training for our customers so that they may be able to operate these tools on their own after our departure from their facilities.

SQYFlex™ is a brand new approach to blade access, where the platform adapts to the contours and dynamics of the blade. The result is a high-quality cutting experience unlike anything else on the market.

Key features:

  • No assembly and disassembly on site;
  • 360° blade access and tip-to-tower reach of 16.2 meters;
  • Maximum wind load of 14 m/s and payload of 550kg;

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs/ Drones/ Crawlers)

At VIVABLAST, we provide unmanned access solutions for wind assets in at-height, confined space, and subsea locations in the wind energy industry. VIVABLAST deploys these equipment mainly, which enable to access hard-to-reach locations, where damages often go unnoticed in between irregularly-scheduled inspections.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs/ Drones/ Crawlers) have proven to be a successful alternative to current methods of turnaround planning, infrastructure inspections, and environmental monitoring.

UAVs offer a more cost-effective way to conduct inspections that would otherwise be difficult or impossible for humans to perform. By using UAVs, inspectors are able to inspect difficult-to-reach areas in addition to performing routine maintenance checks on equipment and infrastructure that may otherwise go uninspected.

The process of inspecting an area with an unmanned aerial vehicle is simple: an operator uses a remote control device or app on their phone to pilot the drone over the desired area. The operator can fly the drone close enough for inspection or take photos from high above for a bird’s eye view. The data collected by the drone can be used for analysis by engineers and managers alike.

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles Survey (AUV)

Autonomous or unmanned survey vehicles (AUV) are proven to positively impact your offshore projects by reducing cost, schedule, risk, and logistics. The new generation of light-class AUV has furthered these benefits without any compensation for data accuracy, resolution, or quality.

Autonomous vehicles are now able to provide an efficient way for exploration and survey activities to be completed at a fraction of the costs associated with traditional survey vessels. They also allow for the collection of detailed data in real-time and at a high level of accuracy – often from areas that would otherwise be inaccessible or difficult to access by boat.

Light-class AUVs are versatile, enabling them to operate safely in shallow waters where they can easily navigate around obstacles such as rocks and shoals without damaging equipment or creating safety hazards. Light-class AUVs also feature high maneuverability, which allows them to operate in tight spaces near pipelines, cables, and other equipment without risk of collision with other vessels on site – this means less disruption caused by moving heavy equipment around during installation work too!

Another benefit is that they can be deployed quickly without requiring specialized training, unlike traditional methods, which require extensive training before use on job sites so they can operate safely alongside ships crew members.

Light Class Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

This innovative technology directly challenges traditional vessel-based, ROV, and more prominent AUV survey techniques, delivering highly accurate survey data, resolution, or quality with significant reductions in project cost, time, and risk. The AUV has been robustly engineered, is capable of operations to 200m, and is one of the smallest and lightest on the market, allowing for single-user deployment from small work vessels or directly from the shore.
